My Specialties

My utmost desire is that you would feel care and compassion from me every time you walk into my office. I want you to feel a sense of autonomy and empowerment to get all that you want out of this experience. We will work together to discover and articulate what your hopes are for counseling and develop a plan to bring about these desired changes in your life. I have evening and weekend hours available to accommodate work and school schedules and I am also able to see clients through confidential video counseling (in both NC and SC) to accommodate those who are not able to make it into the office for every session.

Perinatal Health

The perinatal time frame encompasses the period throughout pregnancy through a year post-birth. While this can be a season often associated with much joy and excitement, it is all too common for women to experience a host of other unpleasant emotions as well, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD (from events in pregnancy or birth), or just motherhood not being quite what you expected it to be. I want to normalize the experience of these tough emotions, help moms process in a way that brings healing, and develop coping skills that help them enjoy their motherhood to the full. I also long to create a supportive space for families to grieve the loss of miscarriage or stillbirth, as well as the pain that comes alongside infertility.

Anxiety and Depression Counseling

It is more common than most realize for people to go through seasons of being consumed by feelings of despair and anxiety. Rather than continuing to suffer alone, I would love to help you work through these feelings. One approach I will use to assist you in this goal is identifying the unhelpful thoughts that fuel these painful feelings and replacing them with what is true and beneficial.

Premarital Counseling

I am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator and I really enjoy working with premarital couples to help you best prepare for your married life together. Utilizing this wonderful curriculum, we will talk through important topics, such as finances, children, and family background, while building critical relationships skills, such as communication and conflict resolution. I have also worked through this same material with pre-engaged couples to assist in thinking through one of the most important decisions you make in life.

My Story

I received my undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2010 and my masters degree in counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2015. I moved to Charlotte in 2012 for graduate school and never looked back- I love this city! I am so grateful to spend my days with my wonderful husband and 2 sweet kiddos- I entered into this role of wife and mother halfway through my 30s and have a particular passion for supporting others going through the ups and downs of longing for a family of their own. Prior to entering mom life, I was an avid world traveler and hope to pick right back up where I left off in learning about other cultures and seeing the different ways that people live once my children get a bit older!

I truly think I have one of the greatest jobs in the world to be invited into the lives of my clients, and I do not take for granted what an honor it is to have someone share their story with me in my counseling office.
